Why Does Lightening the Load as a Service Exist?
Constant days or long periods caring for someone if you are a carer/family member can be exhausting, lonely and overwhelming.
Being alone with no purpose because of older age/illness/other can lead to poor mental and physical wellbeing including depression and cognitive deterioration.
There is a huge gap in service provision nationally which helps people to live their best lives possible in their own homes and/or that give carers/family members a break. Lightening the Load is a unique and innovative service that helps to narrow this gap.
We do not provide personal care – there are plenty of other agencies out there that provide this. However, we frequently work alongside personal care services and other services/agencies responsible for someone’s care.
Currently, many organisations only help people when they reach a crisis situation – we are all about providing a service before this stage and to help minimise the risk of this happening.
Another unique feature of our service is that we tailor make our services depending on individual/family requests and needs. We always ensure that everyone is happy with the staff member who will be visiting, and we always send someone you know and like, at the agreed time and day of the week. This can be rare in the care sector as a whole.

The service is tailor made to the needs and wants of individuals and in consultation with individuals and their families, where appropriate, always!
What Locations Do We Cover?
Our services are for those living in Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and border areas within approximately a 10-mile radius of Market Bosworth.
"Dad was admitted to hospital 5 weeks ago and was, deteriorating rapidly missing the home he was born and raised in and still lives in today at age 90. We were racking our brains what to do Wednesdays and Thursdays as my sister and I work and were scared of him going on his routine pm walk which he wasn't strong enough to do. Lightening the Load picked up the slack literally. Lightening the Load have played cards and dominoes with dad, they have a laugh with him and now he is going to be at a more suitable time of 8.45 pm. Before, due to boredom, he was going to bed at 5 pm. Thank you for relieving some pressure and for your staff being well suited to such a profession."
